Dress Like a Scientist Day – Guidelines and Instructions

On “Dress Like a Scientist” Day, students are encouraged to use their creativity and science knowledge to represent a specific scientific career or scientist. This is a fun and educational opportunity to explore the many roles in the world of science!

What to Expect:

During science classes, students will:

  • Participate in a “show and tell” about their attire.

  • Explain the work and significance of the scientist or science career they chose to portray.

  • Complete a worksheet as part of their presentation.

Dress Code:

  • Only costumes related to a science career or specific scientist are allowed.

  • Casual clothing is not permitted. Students in casual attire will be asked to:

    • Change into their school uniform, or

    • Be issued an SLO ticket.

  • Costumes must be:

    • Decent and school-appropriate – no revealing clothing.

    • Respectful – no profane, offensive, or inappropriate language or symbols.

    • Safe for school use – no explosives, pungent smells, chemicals, or flammable materials.

    • Comfortable and appropriate for attending regular classes throughout the day.
