Dress Like a Scientist Day – Guidelines and Instructions
On “Dress Like a Scientist” Day, students are encouraged to use their creativity and science knowledge to represent a specific scientific career or scientist. This is a fun and educational opportunity to explore the many roles in the world of science!
During science classes, students will:
Participate in a “show and tell” about their attire.
Explain the work and significance of the scientist or science career they chose to portray.
Complete a worksheet as part of their presentation.
Only costumes related to a science career or specific scientist are allowed.
Casual clothing is not permitted. Students in casual attire will be asked to:
Change into their school uniform, or
Be issued an SLO ticket.
Costumes must be:
Decent and school-appropriate – no revealing clothing.
Respectful – no profane, offensive, or inappropriate language or symbols.
Safe for school use – no explosives, pungent smells, chemicals, or flammable materials.
Comfortable and appropriate for attending regular classes throughout the day.
